President’s Golf Tournament another success
In its fifth year, the President’s Golf Tournament, held on Monday, Aug. 23, was a huge success, raising $153,000 for athletic scholarships, the Ravens Fund endowment for future student athletes, and varsity athletic programs.
Hosted by Carleton’s President, Dr. Roseann O’Reilly Runte, the event provides corporate sponsors and participants a full day of first class golf and hospitality at Stonebridge Golf Club, followed by a celebratory reception and dinner at Carleton University.
Ravens basketball guards, Elliot Thompson and Courtney Smith, had the opportunity to speak about their positive experiences as student-athletes. Both expressed gratitude for the support they have received in their years at Carleton.
In the past five years, the tournament has raised $736,000. Thanks to the on-going generosity and commitment of the tournament sponsors, including Unicco, Aramark and Coca-Cola, it seems probable that the long-term goal of raising $1 million over ten years for Carleton’s student athletes will be attained in no time.
