Ravens exhibition and regular season schedules now available
Basketball to host six NCAA schools in 2012 Cross-Border Battle
The countdown to the 2012-13 season has begun as the Carleton Ravens varsity exhibition and regular season schedules are now available on goravens.ca.
Once again, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will take part in a Cross-Border Battle, facing NCAA opponents. A highlight of the exhibition season, the teams will play a total of 11 games against Division I schools.
The Ravens men’s team begins its quest for a record-breaking ninth national title by hosting the Buffalo Bulls of the Mid-American Conference on August 14, before taking on the UNLV Rebels of the Mountain West Conference on August 18 and the Boston Terriers of the America East Conference the following night. Their final NCAA matchup at the Ravens’ Nest will be against the Northeastern Huskies of the Colonial Athletic Association on August 22.
The men will also be making two trips to the United States to play four different Division I teams. On Oct. 27, they will head to Boston to play the Boston College Eagles of the Atlantic Coast Conference, before a rematch against Northeastern the following night.
The following weekend, they are off to Philadelphia to play the La Salle Explorers of the Atlantic 10 Conference on Nov. 2 and the Villanova Wildcats of the Big East Conference on Nov. 3.
The women’s team will host three games against NCAA teams, taking on the Iona College Gaels on August 15 and 17 and the Youngstown State Penguins on August 16.
Another highlight of the 2012-13 campaign is the seventh annual MBNA Capital Hoops Classic. Set for Jan. 23, the Ravens will host cross-town rivals, the Ottawa Gee-Gees, at Scotiabank Place in the most anticipated event of the year.
The men’s and women’s soccer teams will open the season at home, taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sept. 1, while the Ravens women’s rugby program is set to kickoff its inaugural varsity season in the RSEQ on Sept. 2 at Ottawa.
The home opener for the Ravens men’s hockey team is Oct. 12 against the Concordia Stingers, while the women face the UdeM Carabins on Oct. 14 in their home opener, a rematch of last season’s RSEQ semifinal.
Carleton Athletics is upgrading its ticketing operations to better serve its customers. Ticket information will be available in early August. Follow CURavens on Facebook and Twitter and goravens.ca for updates.
Thank you for your understanding and support of the Ravens.
