Coach's update
The Carleton University Ravens men’s soccer coaching staff is looking forward to a new season. Preseason training starts Sunday, August 15 (time TBD). Student-athletes must contact the coaching staff prior to attending one of the training sessions.
The training times are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday: 6-8 PM
Tuesday: 4-6 PM
Thursday: 4-6 PM (Game analysis), 6-8 PM (field)
Friday: 5-7 PM
The preseason schedule has been confirmed and begins with a game against Guelph on Sunday, August 22. The team will then fly to Vancouver from August 23-28 for a preseason training camp and games against universities in BC. Following the trip, training times will return to the regular schedule.
Team news
Ravens captain Nick Persichino, who missed last season with an injury, is training and is confident he will be fit to play for the upcoming season. Head coach Sandy Mackie says Persichino’s presence is invaluable on and off the field.
Joey Kewin is currently playing with the London PDL team and is also looking forward to a new season at Carleton. Tobi Ajila, Alex and Stefano Vieira and Justin Campos are all currently playing for Capital United in the Ottawa Carleton Soccer League. Sam Hincks and Sam McHugh are playing with the Gloucester Hornets.
Updates on previous Ravens stars
Earl Cochrane is currently the academy director for TFC and plays a pivotal role in developing young talent for the Major League Soccer franchise. Another Ravens alumnus, Mike Lanos, is the technical director of the Gloucester Hornets.
